Accidents at motor sports events
Those involved in motor sports events may not be covered by the MAC Scheme.
A motor sports event means a race, competition, demonstration, trial, speed test or similar event that involves motor vehicles, including preparations for the event, whether it is a formally organised or not.
Individuals who sustain injuries or lose their life resulting from an accident involving a motor vehicle participating in a motor sport event are not eligible for MAC Scheme benefits if the person was:
- The driver of the motor vehicle;
- A passenger in the motor vehicle;
- An official or organiser of the event;
- Assisting in any way in the holding of the event;
- Assisting participants in the event; or
- Otherwise associated with the holding of the event.
