How to make a personal injury claim

MAC personal injury claims should be made as soon as possible after the accident.

It is important to lodge a MAC claim as soon as possible after a motor vehicle accident so that we can assess your eligibility for MAC Scheme benefit and help you get the medical treatment and services necessary to support your recovery.

Time limits apply to make a MAC Scheme claim:

  • For persons injured as an adult (aged 18 or over);

  • a  claim should be made within 6 months of the accident.
  • a claim made later than 6 months but within 3 years of the accident may still be considered,
  • a claim made later than 3 years from the date of accident will not be considered.

  • For persons injured as a minor (aged under 18) a MAC Scheme claim must be made within 3 years of their 18th birthday

Claims made for MAC Scheme benefits after expiry of these time limits will not be accepted.

Who can make a claim?

  • You can make a claim for yourself if over 18

  • A parent or guardian can make a claim for a minor under 18
